    Post Surgery Update

We survived another surgery with Doodlebug.  Surgery number 4 to be exact. Four surgeries in two and a half years. *ugh*  It’s pretty exhausting. Even the quick trips seem to drain all life from me.  And I know it’s rough on Doodlebug!  But she’s such a champ; every time she does amazing. Doodlebug really is something special.  She’s 2 and I admire her bravery so much.  When she was in the NICU during her distractors, I came across a Shakespeare quote: “And though she but little, she is fierce.” This phrase encapsulates her so well.  Bless her heart!  She has been through so much and continues to face obstacles.  But by…

Toddler Sleep Study & Specialist Visits

Doodlebug had another overnight sleep study to check on her progress after her cleft palate repair.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, the evaluation got pushed out to over a year from her last sleep study.  So this was going to be our first toddler sleep study! I wasn’t sure what to expect since the last sleep study was performed right after she turned one year old.  Plus, I was anxious for this time around because there had been significant changes in her sleep and behavior since then.  And I just knew she was still having breathing issues while she slept. *Ugh!* For the full story on why we were having the…

As a toddler she may not always understand why this special time is important. So, I break it down and tell her mommy exercises so I feel better.  And I exercise so I’m able to spend much more time with her, sister & Dada in the future. She still tells me “no” sometimes. But I workout anyway. And, 9 times out of ten, she joins in at some point.     You know, I originally started my fitness journey for me.  But by…

5 Lessons I Learned from Potty Training Child #2

My girls are almost 7 years apart in age.  While I don’t mind the gap at all, potty training Doodlebug scared the jeepers out of me.  It had been so long since I had to go through the stress and mess of potty training. (6 years and 8 months to be exact!)  I was afraid that I would make a mess of it.  I was afraid I wouldn’t know when Doodlebug was ready and needed to make the switch from diapers to big girl panties. How the heck was I going to manage it?! Guess what…it happened and I survived – unscathed – and so did the rest of the…
