Vintage Furniture Re-Do & Maison Blanche Paint Review

“Taters”, this is probably my husband’s least favorite word.  Though, he tries to lovingly call an old cabinet that I inherited from my Mammaw, “the tater box”.  I prefer “brown cabinet”; I feel like there is less negative connotations with it.  But whatever you want to call it, it’s not the old outdated piece of furniture it used to be. Mr. O has tried since we acquired the cabinet, about 2 years ago, to get me to either paint it or get rid of it.  And getting rid of the cabinet was a big H-E-LL no!  (He doesn’t get the whole emotionally connected to physical objects thing.)  And while I…

    Pizza for Breakfast

That’s right, I said it.  Pizza for breakfast.  Now I’m not talking about cold leftover pizza that’s been hanging out in the fridge.  Though, I do loooove a good cold pizza.  Ask anyone in my family and they will tell you that I am more of a fan of the cold stuff than a pie fresh out of the oven.  No, I’m talking about a pizza that’s just for breakfast.  Well, scratch that, this pizza is really so good I could eat it any time of the day.  But my point is, this not your typical pepperoni or even supreme pizza.  This breakfast pizza is loaded with some of those…

    Miracle Baby #2

I’ve struggled for a long time now with how to introduce Doodlebug.  She has a very special story this girl; our second miracle baby.  (Little Bear was our first).     Mr. O and I tried for four years to get pregnant.  By the time it actually happened, we had given up.  I was convinced that Little Bear was going to be our only child.  I was grateful for her, but I desperately wanted to share my love with another little one.  Needless to say, I was beyond excited when I found out we were expecting again in May of 2016. My first visit to the doctor to confirm the…

Quick & Easy Chicken Fried Rice

One of the guilty pleasures in our family is take-out.  It’s quick: you can just call it in, run by and grab it.  And generally, it’s something that doesn’t taste the same if you were to make it at home; if you wanted to even attempt to fix it at home.  (Cause we all know that never turns our right.)  Plus, who even knows what’s in the stuff anyway. I, personally, have a few things that I love to eat when I have Asian.  One of which is fried rice; more specifically, chicken fried rice.  I would usually get this as a side to some other type of chicken dish.  But…

    Food Truck Thursday: March

I tell ya,  I am never disappointed with the cuisine at Food Truck Thursday.  This month we had about four trucks at Little Bear’s school.  And just like last time, we sampled more than one menu. Little Bear was adamant about getting a corn dog again when she saw “the rooster truck”.  But because this is the same thing she had last month, I wanted her to try something new.  Well, this didn’t take much persuading when I read the menu off for her at Saffron JAK. Saffron JAK offers a simple gourmet twist on America’s favorite – pizza.  Little Bear got the plain pep.  Which as you can see,…
