    Worthy of Grace

I sat this morning about to post a picture on social media of Doodlebug and myself after my daily workout. And I stopped myself. I stopped myself because I was unhappy with the way the photo looked.  “It’s not perfect,” I told myself.  “This is not worthy of Instagram and no one will “like” it,” I thought. What the heck!     I wasn’t being judgmental of my over cluttered fridge in the background or the fact that I have a small home and I have to exercise in the kitchen most days.  I was judging my appearance and the misconception that I had not worked hard enough, long enough,…

Raising Strong Women: Lead By Example

I switched my workout time today from late evening to morning. This gave me the opportunity to talk to Doodlebug about why mommy makes time to exercise. As a toddler she may not always understand why this special time is important. So, I break it down and tell her mommy exercises so I feel better.  And I exercise so I’m able to spend much more time with her, sister & Dada in the future. She still tells me “no” sometimes. But I workout anyway. And, 9 times out of ten, she joins in at some point.     You know, I originally started my fitness journey for me.  But by…

5 Lessons I Learned from Potty Training Child #2

My girls are almost 7 years apart in age.  While I don’t mind the gap at all, potty training Doodlebug scared the jeepers out of me.  It had been so long since I had to go through the stress and mess of potty training. (6 years and 8 months to be exact!)  I was afraid that I would make a mess of it.  I was afraid I wouldn’t know when Doodlebug was ready and needed to make the switch from diapers to big girl panties. How the heck was I going to manage it?! Guess what…it happened and I survived – unscathed – and so did the rest of the…

    Miracle Baby #2

I’ve struggled for a long time now with how to introduce Doodlebug.  She has a very special story this girl; our second miracle baby.  (Little Bear was our first).     Mr. O and I tried for four years to get pregnant.  By the time it actually happened, we had given up.  I was convinced that Little Bear was going to be our only child.  I was grateful for her, but I desperately wanted to share my love with another little one.  Needless to say, I was beyond excited when I found out we were expecting again in May of 2016. My first visit to the doctor to confirm the…

    Food Truck Thursday: March

I tell ya,  I am never disappointed with the cuisine at Food Truck Thursday.  This month we had about four trucks at Little Bear’s school.  And just like last time, we sampled more than one menu. Little Bear was adamant about getting a corn dog again when she saw “the rooster truck”.  But because this is the same thing she had last month, I wanted her to try something new.  Well, this didn’t take much persuading when I read the menu off for her at Saffron JAK. Saffron JAK offers a simple gourmet twist on America’s favorite – pizza.  Little Bear got the plain pep.  Which as you can see,…
