    Delicious Gluten-Free Overnight Steel-Cut Oats

Creamy with a hint of cinnamon, these oats are a hearty, healthy way to fuel your day and a quick way to to get out the door. Just toss everything in your slow cooker the night before and serve up a steamy hot bowl of oats the next morning.  Enjoy a bowl as is from the slow cooker or top your bowl with fresh fruit and nuts.   I don’t know what it is about a big bowl of oats that makes the world right.  It just warms the soul.  It’s great healthy fuel for your body and, really, versatile enough to please anyone’s taste buds.  We are huge fans…

    Spooky Chic Halloween Wreath

Decorating for Halloween is a must for me.  I want my decorations to feel elevated but be inexpensive at the same time.  And – in my opinion – a spooky fun Halloween wreath is a must for any decorating style.  This Halloween wreath is classy enough for a Pottery Barn style home, whimsical enough for a family with kiddos, and friendly for any budget.  Plus, it’s simple to make and can be assembled in less than 30 minutes.     This fun Halloween wreath is made using a basic grapevine wreath form.  You can find these at any craft store or, most of the time, your local Wal-Mart.  Just like…

Plan With Me Weekly Spread: Sept 2018

If you are a part of our Bourbon Cactus Instagram community, you know that I am an avid planner. Like, it’s really my jam.     So I thought I would share a weekly spread plan with me to show my process of decorative planning.  In this video, I am planning for the week of September 3-9th. My Journey Through LIIFT4: Week 5

Another week down on my new found fitness love, Liift4.  I took a different approach this week to chronicle my journey.  I hope Y’all like it. My nutrition is still up in the air in week 5.  I have still been keeping track of my containers.  I just haven’t been writing them down like I was because I am eating when I get hungry.  Which, technically, I am still following the timed-nutrition plan by eating this way because I seem to be eating every 2 hours.  But I decided that this week, instead of focusing on what time I eat, to focus on eating when I feel my body getting hungry or…

    All-Purpose Protein Seasoning

Variety is the spice of life, right? So why eat the same chicken, pork chop, etc. every dang day? I know…I get it. Eating the same thing every day may keep you on track with your nutrition and fitness goals.  But you know what?  You will eventually encounter same-dish burnout.  And that leads to reaching for the not so healthy stuff and giving up on your goals. Now, I sure don’t like to eat the same exact thing week after week, day after day.  (Though, I do love me some tacos.) But, I do not have time to be in the kitchen cooking up a completely different flavor profile every…
